Utility Assistance
As we age on a fixed income, it can become increasingly difficult to afford the cost of monthly expenses including utilities. Always start by contacting the utility provider directly to ask about available payment plans and other strategies to both afford and lower the cost of your monthly payment.
For more information or questions about the resources below, contact each organization directly.
Panhandle Community Services
Panhandle Community Services (PCS) administers a federally funded program called LIHEAP, Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, or as it is known in Texas, the Comprehensive Energy Assistance Program (CEAP).
To receive utility assistance, the household must have a current outstanding utility bill(s), they must live at the residence, and must be at or below 150% of the current U.S. Poverty Guidelines.

The PCS website also has helpful links to tools for prioritizing bills and tracking spending which can both help in working on ways to make ends meet and ensure there are ways to cover the cost of monthly utility expenses.
PCS also has a Weatherization Program which if you qualify for assistance could improve the energy efficiency of your home and reduce the overall energy costs for your household. Find more information on their website linked above or call their office at the same phone number.
