Affordable Housing

As we age, the priorities we have in where we live can evolve. It may become more important to live somewhere that is low-maintenance, accessible, and either directly offers or can accommodate outside help with meals, cleaning, and other supportive services. Older adults may want to be closer to medical centers, grocery stores, or even family.

There are options for affordable housing across the Panhandle, and in Amarillo, there are independent senior living apartment complexes which offer a range of services to assist individuals in aging in place.

For more information or questions about the resources below, contact each organization directly.

List of Affordable Housing for Older Adults

The Area Agency on Aging of the Panhandle (AAA) maintains a list of senior housing including affordable housing complexes for older adults in the top 26 counties of the Texas Panhandle.

Note that the AAA does not assist individuals in finding housing; however, they are able to offer their list as a public service. Contact the AAA for a copy of the list.

  • Bivins Village

  • Independence Village

  • Northwest Village

  • Winwood Village

These complexes may also offer additional onsite services which benefit older adults and individuals with disabilities including FoodNET meals served Monday - Friday (see Potter and Randall County Resource pages for more info). Find their contact information online or on the list the AAA provides.
